Landing to 1st Week Survival - THE US Texas Dallas

You are lucky enough when you have someone picking you up from the airport and you know where you are going to stay.. Cheers to my husband's and his friends efforts that we had rented a house already.

Yes, these become THE most essential things once you land.

The day we landed: This was Saturday, 4.30 pm. Fortunately my husband has super fantastic colleagues, now friends.
3 people landed and we saw 4 people at the airport to receive us. This made me feel so lucky and not home sick at the very moment we landed.
We saw our community ( Society for us in India, remember?).
The house was on the third floor (2nd floor as per Indian std.). Without a lift it seemed impossible to carry our 32*4 kgs + 17 kgs of luggage upstairs.
You won't believe if I say I didn't carry a single bag upstairs. This only happens when you have a bunch of kind and gentle men around you. It felt like I knew them since ages :)

After that, my husband's manager called us for a tea which was amazingly refreshing. One of his friends helped us with the basics in the apartment and do's and don'ts. Post a quick freshening up we headed to shop for basic things required to settle through the night and the following morning.
Got a comforter to sleep on, a pull over, pillows and basic grocery which can help us have tea and toast in the morning.
Not to mention we were invited for dinner that night.

Following days: As the next day was a Sunday, we were invited for breakfast too :). Lucky was the only feeling that was constantly holding up in my mind.
Note : There was India vs Pakistan WC cricket match which started at 4 am on Sunday.
As we had amazing food in the flight a lot of home-mom made theplas were left with us. Theplas were not touched until tonight as we had my husband's onsite counterpart who got us delicious khichadi for lunch.
After the lunch we went for rest of the essential shopping with her. She helped us with everything that was necessary to settle down initially.
We got locked down in Walmart the very same evening due to the storm (Very frequent in Texas). That was quite a welcome from the mother nature.
As a female house maker one round of shopping is never enough, hence we kept troubling our friends who took us around for shopping at least 3 time that week.

My husband knows me so well that his 2nd day back home from office, he got me samosas and pani puri. I was just over whelmed at that moment.

To sum up, the first week was about knowing people, missing home, looking for my husband to get a car pool, settling down, hitting the gym, adjusting to cooking on an electric system, stocking up the groceries etc.
Thank you to Walmart, India Bazar, Sams, Costco, Patel brother and amazon. We could settle in because of you.

But more than that, thanks to Chaitali, Ravi, Ankita, Neha, Puneet, Avinash, Srikant, Saurabh, Shubhra, Pooja, Sandeep Sir and his family, Nitin, Devyani, Richa

We owe this 1st weeks survival to you :)
